The Top Ten Ways to Stay Focused on Your Objectives
Welcome to Flo's Business Blog
Another day with the beautiful sun shining brightly! I received some great news and I'm so happy :-) My daughter Camille is coming to celebrate Christmas with me. Now that's good news, she lives in London Ontario which is 6 1/2 hours drive.
Many times I wanted to get in my car and visit my daughter, enjoy a couple of cups of coffee, catch up with news. But with the distance it's not something that I can no longer do and I MISS that a lot !
Today's article talks about reaching your goals and how to keep focus as it can be a challenge at times. Consistency is one of the most important keys to achieving successful outcomes.
Michael is sharing with you some ways to maintain your focus, your energy and your optimism while pursuing your goals...

The Top Ten Ways
to Stay Focused on Your Objectives

People often ask me what I think are the most important keys to achieving successful outcomes. There are many, but the one thing that I see as being the most essential—and often ignored—is consistency.
Any worthwhile, challenging goal requires sustained effort. Doing the things necessary for a day or two isn't hard. Where most people fall down is in stringing those days together and thereby creating the progress, the momentum, and ultimately, the successful accomplishment.
What follows are ten ways to maintain your focus, your energy and your optimism while pursuing your goal. They've worked for me and they'll work for you. When I've employed all of these components, I've never failed to achieve my intention.
1. Have Powerful Reasons.
With a strong enough reason you can and will find the how and the wherewithal to achieve your reward. Reasons plus belief keep you motivated. When you're excited about your goal, it doesn't seem like work. If you're not excited, your efforts will require more discipline and energy. Make sure it's YOUR goal. Make sure it excites you. And then act enthusiastically.
2. Write Your Objectives Down.
This is a critical step. Don't think it, ink it. When you write your goals down, they appear not only on paper, but they become indelibly written upon your consciousness.
3. Visualize.
"See" your objective already in existence. Nothing can withstand the power of a clear, multi-sensory vision of what you are intending. What does it look like? What will people be saying about it? How will you feel? The more detailed and "real" you can make your vision, the more powerful it will be. It will operate like a magnet and draw forth all kinds of things you never thought possible.
4. Affirm Your Success.
Speak your goal into existence. An affirmation is a present-tense, positive statement of your intended outcome. I now have achieved ______________ (fill in the blank). The more sensory rich you can make your affirmations, the more effective they will be. All of these techniques help you to feel the presence of your objective and build belief.
5. Make a Plan of Action.
To achieve and stay focused upon your objective, create an action plan. What are the steps you will take to get you from where you are to where you want to be? Your strategies will likely change as you go along, so set your goals in concrete and your plans in sand. Keep your eye on the goal, but remain flexible in your path to it.
6. Measure Your Progress.
You can't change what you don't measure. Create mechanisms that will allow you to see your progress. Use charts. Log your actions. Use anything that will encourage you by allowing you to objectively track your progress. We all need feedback—it's the breakfast of champions.
7. Maintain a Support System.
Have a Master Mind Group. Use the Buddy System. Surround yourself with people who will encourage and challenge you. Be accountable to someone other than yourself. Read positive books. Review past successes.
8. Focus On Only a Few Goals at a Time.
You can achieve anything you desire, but not EVERYTHING you desire. Concentrate your efforts and your energy on just a few. I might have dozens of goals and projects, but I keep three key goals in the forefront of my mind.
9. Take Action Every Day.
An important objective warrants daily attention. A 400-page novel is not written all at once. To many, writing a 400-page novel would be overwhelming. But a little over a page a day will get it done in a year. Every goal can be broken down into doable tasks done consistently.
10. Celebrate Your Milestones.
Mark your successes and acknowledge yourself for your progress. As you achieve one goal, you can see better and believe more easily in the accomplishment of others. You deserve to succeed and you deserve to celebrate your successes.

No Bargain
Cheap Hosting No Bargain
Welcome to Flo's Business Blog
Last night during the night I turned on the spot light and what a pretty sight it was! Nice big fluffy flakes of snow softly dropping .. it looked like they were lightly floating down. It gave me a feeling of peacefulness and that felt great!!! This morning the sun is bright and shinny - all the branches are covered with thick snow .. it looks gorgeous.
Yesterday's article was about "How To Shop and Save On Website Hosting" and today's article is also about Hosting services.
Choosing a low cost Hosting service may not be the best decision as it limits your ability to do business online. You don't want your site to suddenly shut down because you exceeded your bandwidth.
Jim is sharing a few bargain Hosting that provide good service and the importance of the fine print of how much bandwidth your allowed...

Ever heard the saying “Penny-wise and Dollar-foolish”?
Well bargain priced website hosting may just represent the perfect example of watching a jar full of pennies while bucket loads of dollars fly out the window!
When I launched my first website way back in the “dark ages” of 1997 I paid almost $150 a month in hosting and data transfer charges.
My web host watched how many files I uploaded like a hawk and always seemed to send their hefty invoices earlier with each passing month.
I’m obviously not the only one who felt that way, because suddenly a whole industry of “bargain” web hosts sprang up all over the web.
On the surface they all sound great, especially when you think you can go from $150 a month down to $4.95 a month!
Five bucks a month sounds great, until you realize the amount of data transfer (number of page views) and bandwidth (the amount of data transfer your host allows in a 24 hour period) you get for that low price severely limits your ability to do business.
This realization - along with a panic attack and a quick lesson in how data transfer and bandwidth get calculated -usually comes at the least convenient time.
When you exceed your limits, a bargain host usually just shuts you down with no warning.
Most webmasters realize they’ve made a mistake by choosing a bargain host when their site suddenly gets shut down in the middle of a big promotion because of a traffic spike. Believe me, everything just stops!
Here are a few bargain hosts that provide good service, but you really need to really check the fine print for how much bandwidth they allow.
www.FeaturePrice.com
For $24.95 a month you get to host up to six independent websites with a single account. You get unlimited data storage, unlimited email and a variety of other higher end services, but their bandwidth policy seems hard to understand.
www.HostSave.com
Host Save is another low price hosting company that delivers a wide range of services for only $6.95 per month. They recently raised their allowable data transfer, but their policy on how much bandwidth you can use at a given time seems non-existent.
www.DotEasy.com
For $25 DotEasy offers a domain name purchase along with one year’s hosting. Sounds incredible until you read the fine print to discover they limit you to 1 Gigabyte of data transfer a month. Not much data once you start getting reasonable site traffic.
The moral here? Either be prepared to have your business shut down mid-stream if you get successful, or pay a few extra bucks each month to ensure you have enough bandwidth and data transfer.
At a minimum, specifically ask and read the fine print about the host’s bandwidth and data transfer policies before it’s too late!

"What's your web address?"
From small "mom and pop" home-based businesses to mega-stores, people ask this question in business every single day. Even if you only operate a small, local business, if you don't have a website (or at least email) people honestly look at you funny.
A few years ago, website hosting was one of the largest expenses connected with setting up a website. Now, with dramatic drops in pricing, website hosting can actually present the least costly component of operating a website.
However, before you run out and sign up for $2-a-month website hosting and wake up tomorrow filled with regret, take 5 minutes right now and learn the main points to consider when evaluating any website host.
Total Storage
How much space do you get to store your website files? If you operate a small website with a handful of pages and only a couple of pictures per page, you can get by with 5-10 MB (megabytes) of disk space or less. However, if your site contains dozens of pages and hundreds of pictures, you may need a hosting plan with 10-25 MB of space.
Data Transfer / Bandwidth
Here's where many people fall down and get run over by the Internet bus! Bandwidth represents the total amount of traffic the website host allows you to receive.
Successful sites that get a lot of traffic eat up more bandwidth than sites without many visitors. Honestly, bargain website hosting companies don't want you to get much traffic because your bandwidth costs them money.
If you plan to do any business online, make sure you get a bare minimum of at least 1 GB (gigabyte) of data transfer per month.
Email "Aliases"
Most web hosts allow you to set up email addresses connected with your domain, such as jim@thenetreporter.com, and have them forward to your email account, like yourname@aol.com. The ability to set up email aliases forms an integral part of any online business. Make sure your hosting company allows you to set up at least 5 email aliases.
Website Tools
If you want to do anything more than let people look at static web pages, you will need to have certain tools available. The two most important tools are CGI and website statistics. These allow you to run scripts and see who came to your site and when.
Tech Support
Make sure you understand any company's technical support policies and hours of operation. Don't wait until Saturday afternoon to discover your only help option is to wait and email them Monday morning.
Go to www.comparewebhosts.com and check out the tool for researching and comparing the offerings of over 9,000 different website hosting companies. Try the "Power Search" feature, which allows you to specify about 50 different variables, including price, company location, bandwidth, and number of email aliases allowed. It even lets you search by how often the hosting company backs up its servers to protect against data loss.

That Error Message
What Does That Error Message Really Mean?
Welcome to Flo's Business Blog
I hope your enjoying your weekend! Today I'll be having supper at my sisters I will enjoy that. My sister likes cooking and it's always very good. The meal always comes with a fantastic desert .. that's my favorite and what a treat, I can never resist!
Today's article is very interesting, not to many people know what an error message really means. I myself only knew about one until I read Jim's article. I always wondered about them .. now I know what it's all about!
Jim is sharing some of the more common error messages you may encounter while surfing the Internet and if you can correct the situation...

What Does That Error Message Really Mean?

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Surf the 'Net for about 10 minutes and chances rate very high that you'll encounter an error of one kind or another.
Whether the error message pops up on your own computer or on a website loaded in your browser, knowing what the error means can help you solve the problem much faster and avoid hours of frustration (especially in a situation where nothing you do will solve the problem).
The following represent some of the more common error messages you may encounter while surfing the Internet and what (if anything) you can do to correct the situation.
Error: 404 File Not Found
This means the web server cannot find the file or web page you tried to pull up in your web browser.
Almost nothing you can do will correct this situation. Try hitting your web browser's "Refresh" button to see if the page will load. If not, email the website operator to let them know of the problem and then move on.
Error: 500 Internal Error
This error usually occurs when you fill in a form on a web page (contact form, shopping cart, feedback form) and click the submit button.
This means the server or the script handling the form on the server has a major problem. Again, there's nothing you can do so just email the website owner and move on.
By the way, resubmitting the form a dozen times, banging your hand on the keyboard, and yelling at your monitor won't fix the problem!
Error: 408 Request Timeout
This error usually occurs when you try to download a huge file or large web page and, for whatever reason, the connection times out.
Simply hit your browser's "Refresh" button and it should pick up the download again where you left off.
If not, contact the website owner and inform them of the problem or check back later.
Error: Host Unavailable
Grab a cup of coffee on this one and fall back to reading the newspaper.
You can try hitting your "Refresh" button a couple of times, but, for all intents and purposes, this means the server has gone down.
Try again in a few minutes on the off-chance you tried to access the website just as the owners were restarting the server or temporarily disconnected it from the Web.
If this doesn't work, the phone rates your best course of action to contact the website owner since it's a safe bet their email won't work either.
Error: Unable to Locate Host
This message usually means one of three things: the web server is down; your Internet connection is dead; you typed in the web address incorrectly.
To correct the problem, first try retyping the web address into your browser's address bar. If that doesn't work, try surfing over to another website to make sure your connection is live.
If you can't load any websites, contact your Internet service provider (ISP) for technical assistance.
As a general rule, if you encounter an error while surfing the web, try these steps in order to fix the problem:

2. Verify that you typed in the correct URL (web address)
3. Close down and restart your Web browser completely.
4. Contact the website owner to alert them to the problem or request help.
5. Contact your ISP for help.

Have a great day
Welcome to Flo's Business Blog
I hope your enjoying your weekend! Today I'll be having supper at my sisters I will enjoy that. My sister likes cooking and it's always very good. The meal always comes with a fantastic desert .. that's my favorite and what a treat, I can never resist!
Today's article is very interesting, not to many people know what an error message really means. I myself only knew about one until I read Jim's article. I always wondered about them .. now I know what it's all about!
Jim is sharing some of the more common error messages you may encounter while surfing the Internet and if you can correct the situation...
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
What Does That Error Message Really Mean?

1. Click your Web browser's "Refresh" button.
2. Verify that you typed in the correct URL (web address)
3. Close down and restart your Web browser completely.
4. Contact the website owner to alert them to the problem or request help.
5. Contact your ISP for help.

7 Ways to Make Your Online ORDER FORMS Sell More
Welcome to Flo's Business Blog
Yesterday on my return from a 40 minute drive it was snowing, the visibility was poor and slippery... but I made it home safely. This morning I'm sore all over, I never liked driving in any kind of storm, I get tense and hang on to the wheel real tight. Tomorrow is my day off and I'm L@@king forward to it !!!
*Here's a "JOB DESCRIPTION" - by Jon Sypher
There's no such thing as having a good job. A good job is what you do, not what you have!
All of us at one time if not more have changed our mind and decided not to buy. In today's article it's about what you can do to prevent online sales "order form abandonment" from happening. Alexandra shares a simple check list of what you can do to increase your sales and put the prospect at ease...

7 Ways to Make Your Online ORDER FORMS Sell More
by Alexandria K. Brown, "www.EzineQueen.com"
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Did you know that most online sales are lost at the ORDER FORM? Yes, that's right. Even if someone reads your sales copy and clicks to order, they have a good chance of changing their mind once they get to the next stage.
I admit I've done it myself. Sometimes I get all pumped up to order something, but by the time I fill out a bazillion pieces of information, I've lost my zest to buy it. Or I still have questions about the product. Or for some reason the form isn't working and I can't find another way to order. That person just lost my sale.
The good news is there are a few simple things you can do to prevent "order form abandonment" from happening so much. Here's a simple checklist of what you can do to increase your sales at this stage:
1. Customize it for each product.
Any good shopping cart should let you actually customize the order form for an individual product. I don't do this for all my products, but usually do for my higher-priced items and programs. You can write a special message for the top of the form, and even include logos, photos, and audio too. This lets you continue the sales process even after the customer has left the sales page.
2. Write from the first person.
When it comes to getting people to take ACTION, write in their voice and get them involved. Example: "YES Ali, I'm Ready to FINALLY Learn How to Use the Internet and Information Products to Build More Money, Time, and Freedom Into My Coaching or Consulting Business!"
3. Restate everything they're going to GET.
My friend Yanik Silver says that your order form copy should be so good that it could actually sell your product by itself. So give me a short recap of everything I'm going to get from your product or program. Bulleted lists work well for this. You can see a sample of what I did for this on the order form for my Marketing & Motivational Mastermind. (Once you click on the order link, you'll see the order form.) A product photo is also a great idea here.
4. Give them a nudge.
I highly recommend including at least one very powerful testimonial on your order form as well. Remember results-based ones are best - have a customer who used your product or program and got amazing results. Don't just have someone saying how great your stuff is.
Remember you have a lot of valuable "fence sitters" at this stage and anything extra you can do to give them a push in the right direction is worth it.
5. Put the prospect at ease.
Try calling it something other than an "order form." How about a No-Risk Reservation Form, Risk-Free Enrollment Form, or Priority Acceptance Form?
Be sure to restate your guarantee, so the buyer has no reason not to give you a try.
Also, remind the buyer that their transaction is totally secure by displaying logos like Verisign or whomever your shopping cart is certified by.
6. Make sure everything WORKS!
This may seem like a given, but I've been guilty of this faux pas myself. There's always a lot of excitement surrounding a product launch. And one slip of the keyboard, when setting up your purchase links, can result in it being impossible for someone to buy from you, even if they're dying to!
Do a test purchase on each product you set up online, once you're done setting up all the details.
7. Give them more than one way to order.
Murphy's Law says no matter what, something occasionally will go wrong. Whether it's your order form or the purchaser's credit card. That's why your order form should also make it clear there are other ways to order besides online. Also, some people are still leery of purchasing via the Internet. (I find it amusing that a few people who buy my programs teaching how to sell on the Internet refuse to make an online purchase of their own!)
Here's what the top of my order forms say... you're welcome to model it: "Having trouble? You can also PRINT this page and FAX your order to [fax number here]. Or order by phone toll free at [phone number here]."
"But Ali, My Shopping Cart Won't Let Me Do This Stuff!"
If you realize your shopping cart system won't let you make customizations like this, you're losing money big time. I highly recommend you go with one of the most proven and popular systems that are geared toward MARKETERS, such as www.QueenCart.com. I use it, love it, and can't imagine running my business without it.

>> Part 2 <<
When many of my clients first come to me for coaching, they share that one of their biggest challenges is getting enough visitors to their site. Attracting traffic isn't a cut and dry process — there isn't one perfect way to do it. But there are many ways that, when used collaboratively, will build you a nice stream of visitors.
To get your marketing wheels turning, check out these 15 simple ways to attract new visitors to your site. This is not an exhaustive list by any means, but it will give you several fresh ideas to try.
Now, remember — you don't want to expel effort in getting just anyone to visit your site. You only want people who would likely be interested in what you have to offer. So before you read on, answer this question:
"WHO are your target clients or customers?"
Are they men, women, or both? Do they own a certain type of business or work in a certain profession? Are they young, old, or middle aged? Are they left handed? Do they own pets? Can they juggle?
I hope you see where I'm going here. The more you know about your ideal clients/customers, the better you'll know where and how to find them .
So ... keep that information in mind as you consider the remaining of my 15 traffic-building tactics. (See Part 1 (below this part 2 article) for the first 7!)
___ 8. Recommendations by E-zine Publishers
Do you know anyone who publishes an e-zine for the same target market as yours? If you're not direct competitors, ask her about cross-promoting each other. Example: My friend Wendy Weiss, "The Queen of Cold Calling," publishes a great e-zine called "Opening Doors & Closing Sales" (www.wendyweiss.com). When we both launched our e-zines three years ago, I gave a two-paragraph recommendation for her site in my own e-zine, and she returned the favor by doing the same for me. That one exchange resulted in hundreds of new visitors (and subscribers) for each of us!
___ 9. Recommendations by Other Site Owners
Same idea as #8. Many sites offer a "recommended resources" page, so why not get listed on them? Find sites whose target market matches yours and ask if they'd recommend your site. You'll get more yeses if you offer to list them on your site as well. (This strategy used to also be very powerful to help increase your search engine rankings, but not so much anymore.)
___ 10. Affiliate Programs
Grow your own sales force by offering a handsome commission on your products and services. While this requires you to give away some profits on those sales, they're sales you would not have had otherwise. Right now almost HALF of my sales come from traffic sent to my site by my affiliates. Best of all, you can track and pay your affiliates automatically using programs like ClickBank (electronic deliverables only) or KickStart Cart (a superior version of 1ShoppingCart), which handles both electronic and physical goods.
___ 11. Your E-mail Sig File
You're probably familiar with e-mail signature (or "sig") files — they're the few lines of contact information that many of us put at the bottom of every e-mail we send. Add a few additional lines to your sig file that give us a reason to visit your site. Perhaps you're having a special sale now or you're giving away a free report, e-book, or e-zine subscription. Remember, e-mails get forwarded around all the time, so take advantage of this free exposure. (For more tips on sig files, see my article "Make Your E-mail Sig File Work for You".)
___ 12. Exposure in Print, Radio, and TV
You can drive hundreds or even thousands of new visitors to your site with the right media exposure. Again, no matter how great your interview or article is, people need a kick in the pants to visit your site. So give them something free that they have to come GET at your site. For help in generating publicity at $0 cost to you, check out veteran broadcaster George McKenzie's Get Free Publicity program.
___ 13. Speaking to Groups
Nothing leaves more of an impact on people than an in-person presentation. At each appearance, collect your participants' e-mail addresses by offering something free (your free report, e-book, or e-zine subscription). The day after the event, send them a reminder to visit your site to pick up their free gift! My friend — Tom Antion's site — offers tons of advice and resources on speaking for exposure and profit.
___ 14. Postcard Mailings
One of the most overlooked tactics in today's marketing world is the humble postcard. Postcards are a fast, easy, and reliable way to increase visitors to your site. Best of all, they're the ideal way to break through the online clutter and get your prospects' attention! For a failsafe, step-by-step postcard marketing plan, look to my own marketing mentor, Alex Mandossian. He offers a wonderful tutorial package called Marketing With Postcards.
___ 15. Sheer Shamelessness
If you live in the Los Angeles area, there's a good chance you've seen "EzineQueen.com" whiz by you at speeds in excess of 70 m.p.h. Why? It's emblazoned across the back of my black SUV in large, lime-green letters! At least once a month I get a friendly e-mail from someone who saw my giant URL and, out of curiosity, visited my site. A few of them have even turned into customers. Lesson learned? Think out of the box! For help in this area, see Debbie Allen's "Confessions of Shameless Self Promoters" series.

Why not be in front of people who are actually searching for your product or service? Get your site listed in the top search engines by either learning about this topic on your own or investing in assistance. Because there is A LOT to learn and the rules keep changing all the time, this is an area I advise you get some help in. (I recommend my friend Marc Harty at http://www.SearchEnginePatrol.com.)
___ 2. Pay-per-Click Directories
In pay-per-click deals, you only pay for how many people actually CLICK on your ad to get to your Web site. Services such as Overture (http://www.overture.com/) and Google AdWords (http://adwords.google.com/) let you bid on how much you'd like to pay per click, and many times your listings appear above the regular listings in the major search engines. (To learn more, see my article, "Pay Per Click: What's It All About ?" at www.ezinequeen.com/payclick.htm).
___ 3. Your Own E-zine
If you publish your own e-zine, you already have a warm pool of prospects who are likely interested in what you have to offer. Give them a reason to visit (or re-visit) your site by adding new content, giving away a free report or e-book, or offering a special subscriber-only promotion on your products and services. (To learn more about publishing your own e-zine, sign up for one of my FREE monthly teleclasses at www.ezine-queen.com/teleclass.htm).
___ 4. Your Articles in Other E-zines and at Other Web Sites
This has been one of my most successful traffic-building tactics. There are thousands of online publishers who would like to use YOUR articles in their e-zines and on their Web sites! Find them via the Directory of E-zines (my favorite) or search for Web sites that accept "free content" submissions. Be sure to add an attention-getting blurb at the end of your article that gives the reader a reason to visit your site ASAP. (To learn how to do this, see my article "Recycle Your Articles and Gain Tons of New Subscribers" at www.ezinequeen.com/recycle.htm).
___ 5. Ads in Other E-zines
Identify other e-zines whose readership matches your target market. Search the Directory of E-zines and the Web. Find out if the e-zines accept advertising and learn what their rates are. Run at least three ads in a row, preferably five to seven, to get an accurate representation of how the ad pulls. Use an ad-tracking program to determine how many clicks each ad is getting. My shopping cart program has this built in, but if you're looking for a separate ad tracking service at a low cost, AdMinder is a good one.
___ 6. Ads on Other Web Sites
Research other Web sites where your target market visits and inquire about advertising. Have ready both text ads and banner ads of different sizes. (For examples of banner sizes, see some of the banner ads I provide to my E-zine Queen Affiliates at www.ezinequeen.com/graphics.htm).
___ 7. Online Forums and Discussion Groups
Where do your prospective clients and customers hang out online? What organizations do they belong to? Identify popular forums and discussion groups that are related to your subject area and where prospects in your target market may be lurking. You'll find more than you ever knew existed just by doing a few online searches. Don't be self-promotional in your postings — be helpful and answer questions as related to your area of expertise. Let your value shine through and include your Web site address underneath your name.

Your Traffic Building Checklist: 15 Ways
to Get More Visitors Who Are Ready to Buy
by Alexandra K. Brown, "The E-zine Queen"
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
>>Part 1 of 2<<
When many of my clients first come to me for coaching, they share that one of their biggest challenges is getting enough visitors to their site.
So ... keep that information in mind as you consider these traffic-building tactics:
___ 1. Search Engines and Directories
Why not be in front of people who are actually searching for your product or service? Get your site listed in the top search engines by either learning about this topic on your own or investing in assistance. I'm Guilty Until
I'm Guilty Until Proven Innocent
Welcome to Flo's Business Blog
It's been raining the last 3 days, last night I could hear the rain pounding on the roof. It sounds nice but at the same time it makes me a little spooky unknown reason why! I barely slept and this morning I'm tired and running quite late at what I need to do for the day.
Today's article is about "Spam" (unsolicited commercial email). It's a constant battle with these spam-mers that has nothing better to do but gives them great pleasure... it's shameful but it's reality!
Businesses that sends legitimate email to its customers must take drastic measures not to get blacklisted. Jim shares how the system works if you get blacklisted so you may take great precautions not to be...

No doubt about it.
"Spam" (unsolicited commercial email) threatens to paralyze and ultimately destroy the email system as it currently exists on the Internet.
Anyone with an email address can attest to the fact that the avalanche of Spam has only increased in the last year and shows no sign of stopping.
However, the current system many Internet Service Providers (ISP's) use to deal with Spam may just destroy the Internet's email system long before the spammers do.
Now, I won't deny that the weight of the Spam on any ISP's resources can rate very significant.
It's been estimated that between 30-60% of all email now sent is Spam!
This means that 30-60% an ISP's system resources (bandwidth, hardware, system maintenance) go towards delivering messages nobody wants to receive.
Out of self-defense, many ISP's turn to third party services like SpamCop, SPEWS (Spam Prevention Early Warning System), and SpamHaus to help them identify sources of spam and block the messages before their email systems get clogged.
No Trial - No Defense - Guilty!
In theory, it's a great system.
In practice, it creates a situation resembling a witch hunt where the accused gets burned at the stake without a trial, let alone the ability to face their accuser. Here's how the system works.
Let's say a business habitually sends legitimate email to its customers or prospects who asked to receive the email.
As long as nobody complains, life proceeds as normal.
But then let's say one of those people forgets they opted in to the business's email list and reports an email message as spam to one of the services I mentioned above.
Result: the business gets blacklisted by one or more of these services and ISP's in turn automatically block email (legitimate email) sent by the business to its customers and opt-in subscribers.
To make matters even worse, nobody at these anti-spam services bothers to let the business know they've been blacklisted.
When the business finally discovers their status and tries to contact SpamCop, SPEWS or SpamHaus, the real fun begins.
If the business does discover which service(s) blacklisted them, they'll find they can't call anyone on the phone to discuss the problem.
They also discover these services are totally unregulated and there is no higher court of appeals.
Any email responses from these services often contain a smug attitude of assumed guilt that scoffs at your claims of innocence.
Also, don't bother asking for the opportunity to face your accuser in order to prove your innocence because they get to hide behind a cloak of anonymity.
Combining this attitude of assumed guilt with the inability to prove your innocence creates a recipe for disaster for every legitimate business.
Oh, by the way, while writing this article, I received 19 spam email messages through an ISP monitored by all 3 anti-spam services.
Makes you wonder, doesn't it?
In the end, the current system only creates opportunity for abuse that targets legitimate businesses while the real spammers just merrily keep sending their flood of email.

Welcome to Flo's Business Blog
I hope you had a GREAT Thanks Giving weekend with your loves ones. For those of you that lives in Canada and anywhere else in this huge world that celebrated a month ago or don't celebrate the event .. I hope you had a GREAT weekend too!
:-( That beautiful shiny bright snow that fell on Friday is almost melted. Yesterday it rained lightly and all night, today it's still raining and it's so gloomy, dark, dirty looking!!! The humidity is so high whatever we have left will probably vanish today!
I want to make my visitors aware of the new ... US Spyware Bill that won a large vote! Below I started the article and if you wish to read the rest of it click on the URL. Get yourself informed of the new bill so you may know what is the new law and to stay out of trouble OR what your rights are to intruders that invades your computer.
If you make practice of scamming, hi-jacking or downloading free stuff over the Internet, you're looking for big trouble!!! As this is how your computer gets sluggish and piled high with Malware. (BUGS) (SPY'S)
-=-=-
TIPS
1) Always, ALWAYS read your terms and conditions before downloading anything free. Look for third party companies within the agreement. They are SPY'S!
2) Don't be Sucker by opening email that tell you have been a bad girl/boy online. Or you have been recorded looking at illegal sites. These are sucker emails. Beware! These viruses are written almost daily even before your antivirus know about them.

Here's the Story about the new Bill

US spyware bills win large vote
Spyware can sit on computers without people realizing US lawmakers have voted to introduce harsher penalties for those who spread spyware on people's computers.
The House of Representatives voted overwhelmingly for two bills which clamp down on spyware programs.
The I-SPY Prevention Act of 2005 and the SPY Act introduce multi-million dollar fines and prison sentences.
Spyware has become a big problem for computer users. They are programs that sit on a computer collecting sometimes sensitive data and net browsing habits.
The I-SPY Prevention Act of 2005 makes it an offense to access a computer without permission via spyware programs and introduces sentences of up to five years in prison for criminal activity.

"Senate committee passes spyware bill."
WASHINGTON - A U.S. Senate committee has approved a bill that would outlaw the practice of remotely installing software that collects a computer users' personal information without consent.
In addition to prohibiting spyware, the Spyblock (Software Principles Yielding Better Levels of Consumer Knowledge) Act would also outlaw the installation of adware programs without a computer user's permission. The Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee approved the bill Thursday.
Spyblock, sponsored by Senator Conrad Burns, a Montana Republican, would prohibit hackers from remotely taking over a computer and prohibit programs that hijack Web browsers. The bill would protect antispyware software vendors from being sued by companies whose software they block.
