Get That Bcc: Line Visible

Welcome to Flo's Home Biz & Fun

I've posted about "forwarding emails" and how it contributes to "SPAM mail" everywhere I'm active online. I was surprised to receive several emails asking "how to get the "Bcc: line" to show in their new email template.

I never thought I would get that kind of response. I realize many don't know until they read about it and do want to make a difference... that is super! It won't solve the problem with so much spam mail but the effort does help a lot!

Now, here's "how to" with Outlook Express, MSN and Yahoo mail:

OutLook Express

Open Outlook Express Email Program then start a new email template. In the "To:" line add one email address of your choice.

Then click on "Cc:" and a box will appear, it's called "Select Recipients"

Then click on the name you want and at the same time hold down the "CTrl" key on your keyboard. Keep holding that "CTrl" key and as you click the names they'll be highlighted, when done... let go the "CTrl" key.

Then on the right side of the "Select Recipients" box, click the "Bcc:" and the highlighted names will be place there, then click "Ok". You'll see the chosen addresses are in the Bcc: line. Once the email is sent they will be invisible to everyone else.

*Save a copy of your email to take a peek at the results!

MSN Email Box
It has the "Bcc:" line visible... please use it to help control spam!

Yahoo Email Box
Open a new mail, above the new template you'll see the option to show "Bcc:" line. Click on it and the "Bcc:" line will be visible on the new template.

Choose one email address on the "To:" line then, click "Bcc:" line to add your other email addresses. They'll be invisible to everyone else, this way SPAMMERS won't be able to copy the entire list and send "SPAM MAIL".

Lets help each other in reducing the amount of spam everyone receives!

Have a great Sunday

Those Tacky Emails

Welcome to Flo's Home Biz & Fun

Today's post is about "tacky email" that are forwarded, it's distasteful receiving! I'm sure the majority of people feels the same way!!!

It's very annoying to have to get past all those email addresses when I'm trying to read an email that's been forwarded so many times. You could have up to twenty or more to get past and I dislike that!

I don't think it's fair to the people whose email address are exposed to everyone, and certainly not appreciated by the person receiving it. Theirs two ways to get rid of all that extra junk!

If you don't know how, this is what you do...

1) Before you forward an email, copy and paste the part you want into a new email, then send it.

2) Another way is to forward the email, then before sending it, delete out all the addresses, comments, etc. before you hit send.

It only takes a second to highlight all those email addresses then hit the delete key. It's considered "very TACKY" to forward everything, including the names and email addresses of everyone else who has received it.

"Forwarding Email"

Did you know that forwarding emails can bring you "SPAM MAIL"?
If you didn't know before, now you know!!!

Forwarding emails can cause "SPAM MAIL" for you and the earlier recipients of the email. When forwarding an email, make sure you delete all of the previous addresses first. Spammers can copy the entire list and everyone will get spammed, including you! I'm a 100% sure you don't want that to happen!

How to hide email addresses...
1) Put your cursor to the "To:" for one email address of your choice!

2) Put your cursor to the "BCC:" (Blind Carbon Copy) for the other recipients email addresses.

That will prevent the names and email addresses not be visible to no one.

It only takes a second to use the "BCC" (Blind Carbon Copy). Always use it because we have no clue who gets to read our email addresses before we get them!

When you receive a forwarded email you have that right to ask them not to do it. If they can't be bothered the solution is simple "BLOCK" their email address.

An AdlandPro Community member shared the below graphic to include when forwarding emails.

I hope the tips was helpful!

Part 2, #1-Horse Injury

Welcome to Flo's Home Biz & Fun...

If you missed and are interested to know about Precious first and second injury then click "# 1-Horse Injury". If you want to read on what I needed to do for Precious click... "cold hosing" and "wrapping a horse legs". These articles will give you information on how and why, I've included video's that shows you how to "cold hosing" and "wrap horses legs" for the interested.

Here's part 2 to Precious injuries...

On the fourth week of Precious injury + Savanna's injury and going back and forth three times a day for both horses, I was tired and stressed out. I decided to call the couple that wanted to buy Precious since she was two months old. They came the next morning to pick her up, they would clean her wound and feed her. The sale price would be discuss by the six weeks.

Two weeks went by, during that time I called several times and was told she was OK and turned out among the horses. On the seventh week I visited Precious, I missed her presence in the pasture. The couple had three horses when I met them but when I arrived at the farm they had eighteen horses. Precious was in mud up to her fetlock, I didn't like that and by herself in a corner. She lost some weight, I knew she was last in the pack!

I watch Precious trying to sneak in the pack of horses four times to get food. Each time she was abused, pushed away by many horses. I told the couple what I've observed, the lady said that Precious likes to get beaten that's why she keeps going back. I was annoyed by her answer and replied, she's hungry that's why she keeps going back not because she likes it. I ask them to put food in another area for her, the lady said she did but other horses would go eat that food too.

That day I left with an ill feeling and no longer wanted to sell Precious to the couple!

A week later I visited Precious for the second time. Precious lost more weight and had stress lines above her eyes, her body was marked all over by getting a beaten by the other horses. I notice that the pack still didn't accept her and she was still abused when trying to get food. That was it!!! I told them I changed my mind and didn't want to sell her, at the end of the week they would bring Precious home.

For two weeks in a row the lady called to say they couldn't bring her home, it would be the next weekend. In the middle of the third week I told them if they cannot bring Precious home on the weekend I would look for another trailer. They garanteed me she would be home that weekend as they would be done cutting the hay.

Finally that weekend Precious did arrive home, I knew by her eyes she was sick and she had a cough. I called the vet and he diagnosed her to have "shipping fever" with a "high temperature", he commented that she had quite the beaten. She was on antibiotics for two weeks, on the third day she started to look better. By the end of the week Precious was herself again!

This is how I introduce a new horse...
For one week I would put the new horse into another pasture so the horses could see each other. The second week my horses are put in their paddock and the new horse in the corrall seperated by a fence so they can smell each other. Horses makes a funny noise when first smelling each other so I keep them apart until they stop that noise. I'm in no rush to put new arrivals together, I always wait three weeks or more to make sure no horse gets abused!

Precious Misfortune...
In October early in the morning I looked outside, Precious was laying close to her paddock gate. I noticed that her legs was on this side of the gate, I knew she was in trouble. When I arrived I seen the post was in the middle of her two front legs so she couldn't get up. I ran to the house and asked my daughter to help me free her. We took down two fence rail and Precious was free again and not hurt. I don't have a clue what happened but it appeared that Precious tried to get free. The heat from her body made the area a patch of ice, I immediatly put sand so it wouldn't happen again.

Precious is the type of horse that when she's stuck she doesn't panic, she waits till I come to free her. I'm very lucky because some horses panicks and gets hurt trying to free themselves. It's also very dangerous for the ones that are trying to help the horse.

Precious had another misfortune, that'll be said on my next post otherwise I'll be sharing that story ahead of time. My next post will be about Savanna's injury that was very serious and up to this day are still struggling...

Have a great day!

Posted # 1 Horse Injury

Welcome to Flo's Home Biz & Fun

Today is about Precious my 1-1/2 year old mare at the time of her "first injury", she was a very lucky horse that day. Her "second injury" was very serious, she also had a "misfortune" over the summer. I'm thankful my horses are still in my life today!

First Injury...
Early December 2007 I sent Precious to a trainer, she got home three weeks later. The next morning of her arrival I looked outside and saw her laying very close to the fence. While I was preparing their goodies I again looked outside, Precious was at the same spot. I found that odd, usually she waits at the front gate for her morning goodies.

As I opened the door I heard a noise like the fence being touched, I looked up and Precious was running towards the front gate. I checked her and she appeared to be OK but that evening her back left ankle seemed swollen. Precious fetlocks are two different colors, one is black and the other white.

I called my friend and explained what happened. She said because of the colors of the fetlocks I needed to measure around each ankle with a string to see if they're the same size. Her back left ankle was swollen so my friend came over to show me how to reduce the swelling.

To care for her I learned how to "cold hosing" and "wrap" her legs for three days, twice a day morning and night. Precious needed to be confined at night in her pen and in her paddock during the day! On the fourth day the swelling was gone and Precious got back into being a curious young horse, she was happy to be free again!

When wrapping a horse leg one must wrap both legs, reason is, the horse will not favor the injured leg.

Second Injury...
On the last week of April 2008, the day the injury occurred started out to be a beautiful sunny day. Early afternoon it started to rain and just pounding hard on everything, the hairs on my arms just stood up with chills all over my body!

Savanna my 23 year old mare is Precious mom, she was with me in pasture #1 beside the house. Precious was in pasture #2 at the edge of the woods. When it started to rain Savanna ran very fast to get in her pen, Precious panicked and ran on high speed. As she was running I was shouting easy Precious, easy, easy, hurt. Precious knows that means to be careful but she was in fright. Half way to her shelter I seen blood on her right front hoof, I knew she got hurt.

I entered her shelter and she was breathing heavy, soaked, her head lowered and so much blood. I called my neighbor to help me clean her wound, once cleaned it was a hole the size of a quarter and deep under her fetlock. Again Precious needed to be wrapped and confined to keep the wound cleaned so proud flesh would not grow as it was serious.

Precious had to be transferred five minutes from home at my friend barn to have a large pen. My horses had a choice of being in or out so their pens had enough room to turn around or lay down but not for a bedrest animal. Three times a day I drove to feed and clean her wound, I stayed two to three hours each time so she wouldn't get depressed being confined as she was young.

Two and a half weeks later I got home at 9:00 pm and found Savanna injured. What happened to Savanna will be told in two weeks. Now I had two places to go to give care to each horse, I was so stressed and tired!!!

This is not over with Precious more has happened to her but that continues on my next post! I hope you enjoyed reading and you will return for the next two post to find out more...

Enjoy the weekend!

5-Tips to Improve SE Results

Welcome to Flo's Home Biz & Fun

It's been awhile but I'm doing a lot better these past two weeks. I love being online so I miss it a lot!

In the middle of March, my daughter moved in to help me for the summer. I'm so thankful and it's so nice to have her here, my spirit has been lifted.

Today's article is by Jim Edwards, it's about 5 *SPECIFIC* tips to massively improve your Search Engine RESULTS. I experimented with the 5 *SPECIFIC* tips and I received fantastic RESULTS, you will too. I hope it will be as informative to you as it was to me.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Improve Search Engine Results:
5 Specific Tips

by Jim Edwards © All Rights Reserved
www.TheNetReporter.com
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

The search engines supposedly make our online lives easier by helping us find what we need, right? Well, if that’s true, why do as many as half of all queries made in the major search engines come back with results users rate as “unhelpful” at best?

In the end, search engines are simply software.

Whatever you put in determines what comes out. The better you get at telling the search engines what to give you, the more often you won’t get disappointed. When it comes to the great “info-vending machines” in the sky like Google and Yahoo!, how you enter your search terms counts as much or more than the terms themselves.

Avoid Single Keywords

Searching for a single keyword rates about as productive as trying to pick out a single grain of sand on a mile-long stretch of beach. Need a copy of Lincoln’s most famous speech? Searching for Abraham on Google will give you over 44 million pages to comb through (grab your coffee) on everyone from the prophet, to the president, to a pool guy in Toledo.

Searching for Abraham Lincoln Gettysburg Address speech on Google and you’ll find exactly what you need. When you want to find something, the more specific you get, the better your chances of finding it with least hassle.

Use “Quotes”

When your search results absolutely must contain a certain phrase, put quotes (“”) around it to tell the search engines to only return pages containing that exact phrase. A search for Firefox extensions will return all the pages that contain everything from the software you want to information about hair extensions.

In Google, simply by searching “Firefox extensions” in quotes, you eliminate half of results you might otherwise have to sort. Simply putting your search phrases in quotes will cut down massively on wasted time.

Use -, AND, OR

If you want the search engines to return results without a specific term, use the “-” sign to exclude the word or phrase. For example, a search for Revolutionary War generals -George would finally allow the other military leaders from 1776 to get some press.

If you want to give a logical choice for a search, then inputting “OR” between two words will find both iterations. For example, a search for Firefox extensions OR add-ons will net you both extensions and add-ons for the popular web browser. Finally, use “AND” to make sure the search engine returns results that contain all of the terms you enter.

For example, Firefox extensions free yields much less targeted results than Firefox extensions AND free. If you want even more targeted results, try combining techniques. A search for “Firefox extensions” AND free yields even more targeted results.

Proper Grammar Please

Capitalizing proper names and nouns will yield different results on almost any search. For example, searches for George Washington vs george washington will give you different results to sort.

Alternate Spellings

Like it or not, different people and cultures spell differently. On a recent trip to England I realized that a good portion of the English-speaking world buys “tyres” for their cars instead of “tires.” Online searches containing these two terms yield very different sites, but take you to the exact same types of products and services.

Overall, search engines like Google represent some of the most powerful research tools available online – and they’re all free! When searching for something, don’t get locked into just one search term, but try to approach it from various angles to find what you need. The better you get at telling search engines what you want, the better results you’ll receive in return.

Horses, trainers + more!

Welcome to Flo's Home Biz & Fun

It's been awhile since I posted, I still need plenty of rest by my doctor orders. I want to share a bit of what is going on since my last post and to promote the SPCA. I'll start the tips from January as there's great information to share for every month of the year.

Savanna... my mare
I've been giving care to my mare for three years by watering everything that enters her mouth. She's been on the "Yarrow" plant since diagnosed with "Heaves" and she's doing great.

In January 2008 my doctor discovered dust on my lungs and membrane. I should of known better but I totally forgot about myself and the dust I would be breathing. Since being diagnose I too are on the yarrow plant and my breathing is much better!

Precious... my filly
Precious and I has been in training and we we're doing great, she loves to work and learns fast. At the end of the second week of training I've noticed that Precious started to move backwards to refuse the bit and has learned to run away twice by the third week.

I knew something happened so I called the retired trainers in my area. By talking we found the cause of her refusal, never use riding gears to discipline !!! I seen the trainer use the reins three times to discipline Precious. I was told Precious no longer trust the trainer and now she associates the bit and reins a bad thing.

I let go the trainer and are deeply hurt as Precious and I was doing well at learning. To try to correct this I need to buy reins of a different color and hope she'll accept with time. If not, rope reins is my next choice and I'll need lots of patients!

Did you have a bad experience with a trainer?
Consider to share by posting what happened, how you resolved it... so we can learn!

For the interested here's a website "Horsesall.com" with tips on training horses.

Why do I want to promote the SPCA once a month?
I believe all animals are worthy of respect, compassion and a second chance.

Cats and dogs of all ages, shapes, sizes and breeds, as well as birds, rabbits, guinea pigs and more are waiting in hope for a home. Someone to share life with, someone to love them, and be loved back many times over. If you are considering adding a new pet to your life the SPCA in your area encourages you to make adoption your first option.

Adopting an animal is one of the most important and thoughtful decisions anyone can make. It is the opportunity to give rescued, homeless animals a second chance while adding an immense source of love and fun to your life.

The adoption staff will help you and are always available for any post-adoption questions you may have. When you adopt a cat or dog from the SPCA you get great value, your new pet will be spayed/neutered and vaccinated, plus you'll receive helpful literature on caring for your new pet.

I adopted Buddy at the Edmonton SPCA five years ago...

When I first seen Buddy he was skinny but he had beautiful gold/orange eyes. Before making the decision to adopt, I spent almost an hour in a room with him. I noticed after two to three stokes of petting him he would bite. I adopted Buddy any ways and I do not pet him more than two strokes, look how he's a handsome boy!

To see the many wonderful animals awaiting adoption visit the SPCA animal adoption center in your community. You'll get a "friend for life"!

January... Did YOU know?

Elderly animals, young puppies, small dog breeds, and dogs with short hair should never be left outside for extended periods of time during cold or wet weather.

If you have an outdoor dog, provide it with an insulated doghouse with straw bedding, NOT a blanket. Blankets absorb moisture that will cause the blanket to freeze.

February... Did YOU know?

Declawing is not a simple "cat manicure". In fact, it is equivalent ot cutting off a human's finger at the knuckle. In some European countries, declawing is considered unethical (United Kingdom) or even banned (Switzerland)!

There are many behavior modification techniques you can try before resorting to declawing. Please call the SPCA in your community to learn more.

March... Did YOU know?

Adults jackrabbits often leave their babies alone to avoid attracting predators. Humans will frequently discover them and mistakenly believe they have been abandoned.

By removing a baby hare from its hiding place, a person exposes the animal to extreme stress which can lead to death. Unless a baby jackrabbit appears ill or injured, please leave it alone.

*I hope you enjoyed my post and the tips provided by the Human Society.

Have a great week

Good News on Old News!

Welcome to Flo's Home Biz & Fun

Family, Friends and Visitors, I hope the Holidays was great and the New Year had a great start for YOU! I'm back online late but it's still early in the year to...

*Wish YOU a Blessed New Year
With good HEALTH and much HAPPINESS!

For me 2007 ended with a BANG and 2008 started with a BOOM !!!

On my last post Precious got injuries to her back legs. Twice daily she needed "cold hosing" and "wrappings" for several days. That was her first time for special care and I'm happy to say Precious did sooooo great! There's no permanent damage to her legs and I'm very thankful.

After that scare I got ill with a nasty head and chest cold. I'm still recovering and are doing much better every day, at least now I can sit up a little longer!

I lost another friend last Sunday, Leslie Phillips died of cancer at the age of 57 years. We were raised in the same area, his parents had 14 children, Leslie is the second youngest. They owned the General Store off the Hwy. 17, we lived on the other side that's where I grew up.

When his parents past on they donated a large portion of their property to the Walford community. So the community build a hall and named it the "Walford Community Hall". Leslie stayed in his parents house, got married, adopted a young girl then had two girls. He opened an "Auto Paint & Body Shop", his business was a success. He is at peace now with his struggle with cancer, he will be missed by many!

For the year 2008 I'll be promoting the SPCA a "Did YOU Know? once a month. I will tell you more on next week post, until then...

Have a great day and a wonderful week!

Christmas Eve...

Welcome to Flo's Home Biz & Fun

It's Christmas Eve tonight, please take a moment for a Soldier's Version "The night before Christmas". Send it to your family and friends for a reminder of the man that's in war at this time of year, it's very touching!

I apologize to not posting these past week, I lost a friend of 19 years. Lyle Withers was a farmer that I've known and have become friends with since I moved in my home here. His wife Rita I've known for three wonderful years before she passed on, she was a great
friend I miss her at times!

I kept my friendship with Lyle, he had a lot of animals and just loved working the land. Three years ago when I returned home and my mare Savanna, Lyle sold his farm. I'm not able to find around my area quality hay for horses like Lyle had. I'm very thankful to have met Lyle and Rita, they will be missed!

Also...
Precious my sixteen month old filly rolled close to the fence and got her legs caught. She has injuries and one leg still has some swelling at this time, so she needs care twice daily. She needs cold hosing for 20 minutes twice daily and her legs wrapped.

I will not post during the Holiday's, I'll be giving care to Precious. I'll post an update in the New Year, I'm hoping for a change soon!

Be safe !!!

4-Triggers Will Explode Sales

Welcome to Flo's Home Biz & Fun

In today's article, Jim Edwards talks about the 4 main motivators or triggers that cause people to throw their mental "switch" and buy from you right now!

So if you want to understand WHY people buy and how to use it to make more sales yourself, read the article...

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
Why People Buy Anything Online
- by Jim Edwards
© Jim Edwards - All Rights reserved
www.TheNetReporter.com
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

There’s a mental "hump" over which everyone must jump before they buy anything online. It doesn’t matter what you sell, every single customer must throw a little switch in their minds before they pull out their credit card to buy. What makes them throw that mental switch? Anyone who buys anything online does so because of 2 basic emotions and one (or more) of four basic buying motivators.

People buy 99% of everything sold online for one of 4 basic reasons.

First, they buy because of money.

They buy based on how much money they can make or save as a result of purchasing. In fact, making money is the number one reason people buy just about any "info-product" online.

Now, you might say, "My product has nothing to do with making money! How does this help me?" Well, could you put a spin on your product that would help people save money or make money?

For example: if you sell anything to do with golf (equipment, videos, clothing, etc.) you could add a report that explains how to get more business by playing golf with clients. I bet Realtors, insurance agents, and investment advisors would buy whatever product you sold just to get the bonus report about making money while playing golf.

The second reason anybody buys online involves time and effort.

People simply don’t have enough hours in the day to get everything done. They buy products in the hope of saving a few minutes or alleviating some mundane task.

Saving time and effort is one of the reasons software sells so well online because people hope (sometimes in vain) to offload tasks to their computer.

Show people how your product saves them time and reduces effort and you’ve got a great angle to help increase sales.

The third reason people buy online is to escape either physical or mental pain.

Online pharmacies succeed, even though they represent a risky proposition, because people with physical problems need medicine and can’t afford to get it any other way (adding mental anguish to the mix).

One way to position your product or service to alleviate pain is by explaining how you take the worry out of the transaction. Explain how others put all the risk on the customer while you actually remove it through your guarantees, testimonials and proof that your product delivers as promised.

The fourth biggest reason people buy online revolves around the promise of increased popularity and social success.

Why do you think people buy stylish clothes, perfume, books on how to pick up women, or acne treatments? They buy these, and thousands of other things, because they want to feel better about themselves and operate more confidently in social situations!

You can help increase sales of just about any online item by explaining to your customers how smart they’ll look or how they can brag about the money they saved. No matter what you sell, take a little extra time to explain to your customers how they will look good and feel smart purchasing from you.

No matter which of these four buying motivators you invoke, two emotions will intensify their effectiveness: "fear" and "greed."

Normally fear in online selling revolves around fear of loss. Offline retailers try to invoke fear of loss by holding sales (deadlines with financial incentives), but they hold sales so often they lose much of their effectiveness (example: the weekly furniture ads on TV declaring once in a lifetime deals this weekend only).

Online, you can effectively use fear of loss by threatening to raise the price at any time, only offer a limited number of bonuses, or only make an offer good until a certain date.

Greed will also intensify the buying motivation by giving people a self-serving reason to buy now. Greed can be as simple as telling them how much money they can make / save as a result of making a purchase now as opposed to waiting.

But greed can also take a more emotional form where customers covet the feeling they’ll get by making purchase. Whether it’s a good feeling from buying a loved-one that perfect toy or gift, or the feeling of smug satisfaction from snagging one of the most popular gifts this holiday season, consumers are greedy for both material and emotional gain. Explain to them how they can satisfy their greed and you win!

Now, you might say, "Gee Jim, this sounds great, but I don’t see how all this comes together to sell online. Give me an example!"

Okay, let’s take one of the most mundane yet competitive items of the Christmas season: gift cards.

Everyone sells them, yet the marketing for gift cards both online and offline absolutely stinks. Retailers hawk gift cards by either hanging them on a rack or putting a button on their website that says "We have gift cards." Yet every single one of them misses an opportunity to cash-in with gift cards if they would just explain to people why they should buy in terms of the four motivators.

In fact, gift card retailers make the oldest and most fatal mistake in all of sales: selling on features rather than on benefits.

In other words, they try to sell based on what the gift cards do (let someone pick what they want) rather than on what gift cards do for the person who buys them. Gift cards actually help you save on gas (save money) because they don’t necessitate you driving all over town trying to chase down a gift (save time / avoid wasted effort) the person you’re buying for may not want anyway (mental pain of rejection). In fact, a gift card from a store your friend or loved one really likes will make your gift the most popular one under the tree (social success).

You can increase your online sales just by shifting the emphasis off what the product or service does and onto what it does for the person buying it, along with putting your message within the context of as many of the four main reasons people buy as you can.

Then, by intensifying your prospects’ desire through the effective use of fear and greed, you can truly explode your sales over the competition.

All it takes is a little bit of careful thought, some basic explanation to your customers, and the motivation to do a tiny bit more that others are willing to do in their marketing.
